Using the classic form of the Stan Smith, adidas brings us the latest city series. This time the love goes to Las Vegas, Brussels, Rio de Janeiro, and Seville. The Las Vegas is graced with Vegas Vickie (aka Sassy Sally), the famous neon cowgirl sign above the Girls of Glitter Gulch on Fremont Street. Brussels features the Atomium, the “Eiffel Tower of Brussels,” a 335-foot (103-metre) monument built for the 1958 Brussels World Fair (Expo ‘58). On the Stan Smith Rio, we see the famous Copacabana Beach Sidewalk pattern, and on the Seville—a city famous for their corrida de toros—there is the silhouette of a bull.
The Stan Smith was introduced in 1965 as the first all-leather tennis shoe. Interestingly, the shoe was originally endorsed by Robert Haillet. It was only renamed the Stan Smith in 1971.
