Four years ago, the Nike SB design team inexplicably chose to blueprint an entire dunk around a bottle of beer. The Heineken Dunk lit the sneaker world and the shoe has gone on to become one of the most sought after collectible Dunk SBs, selling for $300 US and up. Now, back at the bar, Nike has hammered out another dunk in deference to the world’s oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage. The Nike Newcastle Dunk pays homage to “the one and only” Newcastle English brown ale and, like with its Dutch predecessor, the homage is entirely unofficial. The Newcastle Dunk will be released Summer of 2008. We wonder what else they have on tap at the Nike Saloon.
